Case Study:
English Greyhound Derby
Overview

The English Greyhound Derby is the biggest event in greyhound racing, held every year at Towcester Racecourse. For the 2025 edition, I created the campaign branding and marketing assets, with the goal of building excitement, pulling in new audiences, and celebrating the event’s long history.

Challenge

In previous years, the Derby hadn’t had the visibility it deserved, and ticket sales reflected that. The task was to design a campaign identity that felt modern and aspirational, worked across everything from billboards to social feeds, and still showed respect for the event’s legacy.

Large crowd gathered at Towcester Racecourse grandstand during the 2025 English Greyhound Derby, under a clear blue sky.
Approach

For the campaign branding, I built a clear visual direction inspired by the energy and prestige of live sport. This came to life through bold, high-contrast billboards and on-site signage designed to stand out in busy environments and set the tone for race day.

Online, I created fast-impact visuals tailored for social media and digital platforms, designed to grab attention quickly and encourage engagement.

To tie everything together, I developed a flexible set of campaign guidelines, making sure the identity stayed consistent across every channel and touchpoint.

Outcome

The refreshed campaign lifted attendance above the previous year, with stronger engagement and visibility across the board. The 2025 branding gave the Derby a recognisable, modern look that matched the scale and prestige of the competition.
